How to Install Settings

By default, DEKSI USB Security Service is installed with the following settings:

  • Block external devices: Yes
  • Ask password: No
  • White devices list: No
  • Record events to log: Yes

You can change these settings or install new ones. You can deploy settings in several ways:

The preferred method does not use the DEKSI USB Security Management Console. You must prepare the settings file and write it to all computers where the DEKSI USB Security agent has been installed. To do this Start the DEKSI USB Security Management Console.

  • Create new settings using the Settings Manager.
  • Install the required settings on the local computer or on any other where the DEKSI USB Security agent has been installed.
  • On the computer where the settings were installed, navigate to the file %windir%/system32/stopusb.txt. The required settings are stored in this file. Copy this file.
  • To install the required settings on the remaining computers, write the settings file stopusb.txt to the %windir%/system32/ folder on every computer.

You can also install the required settings through the DEKSI USB Security Management Console.
